Thank you for your enquiry about having your wedding at Wall Street United Church. In order to help you understand our approach to wedding services, I would like to outline a few things for you.
First, we believe that a wedding service is an act of Christian worship. This means that the wedding music, the taking of photographs, the vows exchanged, any special readings - all must fit within the context of Christian worship within the tradition of the United Church. We are fairly flexible within this general parameter and, if you have questions or concerns, we will be glad to discuss them with you when we first get together.
Second, I will want to meet with both of you two or three times. As part of our recommended programme for marriage preparation, we offer a marriage preparation class and a course entitled Christianity 101. We hope that you will be willing to enrol in at least one of these courses along with others who are going through the same process. (There is no charge.)
Thirdly, we do have set wedding fees at Wall Street United Church. They are determined by our Church Board. The current wedding fees add up to $510.00. For this fee, you receive the use of our beautiful church sanctuary and the time and professional services of our minister, organist, caretaker and secretary. A deposit of $100.00 is required when the church is booked with the balance of $410.00 being payable one week before your wedding.
